After a long hard day, play
at home
After a long day at work, if you enjoy relaxing over some
indoor games then you can have your very own table tennis room, billiards table
room, squash cabin (played inside four walls, mostly glazed),
single pole basketball court, snooker yard, badminton or shuttle cork court at
your home.
With the table in place, you can play a few rounds and brush
up your skills. You need not waste time looking out for a place to relax and
have fun when you can own it.
Say, you have planned to add a table tennis room in your 30
by 40 feet house. The perfect layout would fit either in the basement or on the
terrace, says Vishwanath, architect. According to him, an
additional beam in the terrace would ensure better stability and strength for
the room. If you are planning for one in a 40 by 60 feet or 50 by 80 feet room,
you could find sufficient space right in any floors of the building, opines
Vishwanath.
The place you need to set up a table tennis room should be
planned keeping in mind the dimensions of the table. When you plan for the
flooring, opting for wood may be the right choice. The reason: cost
effectiveness and durability.
The space requirements would almost be the same, with minor
differences, for setting up a billiards table. It is advised to have room for
your pool table and other necessary accessories along with some walk-around
space. Always leave a little more space for a convenient positioning of pool
table, snooker table, badminton or shuttle cork table and easy movement of
players.
You can fix a single basketball pole on any of your walls,
preferably a high one. This set-up needs a free throw line and a 3-point line to
be marked on the floor.
There are many ways in which these indoor games can enhance
the looks of your home and with that your life.
You can turn the indoor game room into a real entertainment
centre for your family and friends. Having a table tennis room or single pole
basketball court will delight your kids.
Real value
George Antony, architect, feels that a well-designed games
room could really add value to your property.
